Key Responsibilities:
Patient Care:
- Review patient history and physician's orders to determine appropriate imaging procedures.
- Educate patients about the procedures, equipment, and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation.
- Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications as ordered, within the scope of practice.
- Monitor patient conditions continuously and report/respond to any changes in status.
- Assist physicians in performing interventional procedures such as fine needle aspiration and needle localization.
- Perform imaging procedures, including biopsies, stereotactic procedures, and breast ultrasound scans.
- Prepare equipment and supplies, ensuring compliance with safety standards and performing quality control procedures.
- Troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions, reporting issues as necessary.
- Ensure compliance with the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) regulations and applicable accreditation.
- Analyze imaging results, identify quality issues, and take appropriate actions to resolve them.
- Enter, transmit, and report scan results, keeping up with BiRad standards and patient follow-ups.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved course in Radiologic Technology.
- One or more years of experience in Mammography preferred.
- Strong critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently.
- Ability to perform effectively in a high-stress environment.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Active registration as a Radiologic Technologist.
- Must be ARRT Registered and Mammography Registry Eligible.
- Active membership in the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.
- Membership in national, regional, state, or local radiologic technology societies is desirable.
