Refrigeration Technician
NASC GLOBAL, a leading HR Consulting and Management firm, is excited to support the search for an experienced Ammonia Refrigeration Technician for our valued client in Sterling, VA. Position Overview:
As an Ammonia Refrigeration Technician, you will be responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of ammonia refrigeration systems. Your expertise will ensure optimal system performance and compliance with safety standards, playing a vital role in maintaining product quality and safety within the facility.
Compensation:
Our client offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $68,640 to $72,800, commensurate with your experience, education, certifications, and skill set. This reflects a strong commitment to attracting top-tier talent for this pivotal role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, test, troubleshoot, and repair ammonia refrigeration systems and related auxiliary processes.
- Perform planned maintenance and conduct daily inspections of the ammonia system.
- Execute ammonia system pump downs for repairs or replacements as necessary.
- Maintain material integrity in refrigeration and utility rooms following best practices.
- Complete all required documentation, including PSM-related modifications, Work Orders (WOs), and system operation notes.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies (e.g., Lockout/Tagout), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), and Process Safety Management (PSM) regulations.
- Operate and maintain spiral freezers and perform chemical tests on boilers and condenser towers.
- Assist with additional duties as assigned by the Maintenance/Refrigeration Manager.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of ammonia refrigeration experience in a food manufacturing facility.
- Familiarity with general maintenance, electrical, and electronic systems is required.
- Ammonia Certification from GCAP (Garden City Ammonia Program) or RETA (Refrigerating Engineers & Technicians Association) is essential.
Desired Skills:
- Strong ability to work both independently and in a team environment with minimal supervision.
- Adherence to company policies, including safety protocols, GMPs, and SOPs.
Physical & Safety Requirements:
- Must be able to pass a respirator fit test and pulmonary function test.
- Completion of a 24-hour hazmat class is required.
