Overview:
Our client is seeking a Business Development Manager to join their  corporate team in San Antonio, Texas, or Frederick, Maryland. This role will focus on expanding their market presence, particularly in the Federal/DoD sectors, by identifying and securing new business opportunities.


Compensation:
Our client is committed to attracting top-tier talent and offers a competitive compensation package ranging from $100,000 to $109,000. This will be tailored to reflect your experience, education, certifications, and unique skill set.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Market Positioning & Strategy: Build corporate market position by identifying, developing, and closing Federal business opportunities. Execute a growth strategy for the assigned domain to achieve sales and revenue goals.
  • Opportunity Pipeline: Develop and maintain an active pipeline of opportunities, identifying both competitive targets and 8(a) sole source targets to meet strategic growth objectives.
  • Relationship Management: Pursue and secure strategic relationships with new customers and partners while maintaining and nurturing existing relationships.
  • Teaming & Collaboration: Lead the selection of teaming partners for opportunities; support proposal team efforts by contributing to the solution/offer development, win themes, and proposal writing strategies.
  • Proposal Management: Lead Bid & Proposal efforts for assigned domains and collaborate with the proposal team in developing response formats and structures.
  • Research & Networking: Engage in Federal/DoD market research and networking activities by attending Industry Days, Pre-proposal conferences, and gathering relevant information.
  • Travel Requirement: 25-35% travel is required for this role.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or a relevant field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Business Development Manager or Capture Manager for a Federal/DoD contractor.
  • Experience in developing service-based proposals for DoD/Federal customers.
  • Strong background with federal opportunity sourcing tools such as SAM.Gov, FedConnect, Deltek GovWinIQ, etc.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing bid strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including presentation abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe, and SharePoint.
  • Strong multitasking, strategic analysis, and critical thinking skills.

Desired Skills:
  • Experience with 8(a) Federal contracting methods.
  • Shipley training or knowledge.
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Information Technology
    • Cybersecurity
    • Data systems, data analytics, data modernization
    • Professional services (e.g., SETA)
    • Instructional design and training development/delivery
    • Logistics

Additional Details:
  • Reports to: Senior Vice President of Business Development.
  • Team Structure: One of three Business Development Managers on the team.
  • Compensation: Includes a quarterly performance-based bonus.
  • Work Environment: Collaborative team atmosphere with a strong focus on growth and development.
  • Relocation: Not available.
  • Position Type: New position; no direct reports.
  • Flexible Hours: Work hours are not flexible.
